Abstract

She advocated breaking away from the norm in sociology that "unique events do not belong within the sociological purview" (Kaufman [3]: 9) because sociology "cannot capture the immensity of such a horrific event" (ibid.: 7). Themes like the Holocaust and social justice were wrapped together in the views of young American Jews whom Kaufman interviewed for her research on post-Holocaust narratives and Jewish identity (Kaufman [4]).
