Abstract
- Their argument is unconvincing as both originalist and textual analysis: Section 3 was written to deal with the specific context of ex-Confederate soldiers and politicians, and fitting Trump's conduct (however odious) into the four corners of the text requires a tortured redefinition of insurrection and of enemies of the United States. A Putin victory would prove far costlier than a Putin defeat. President Biden achieved a foreign-policy breakthrough with potentially massive implications for China's designs in East Asia: a Camp David summit with Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol. The American people were told, first under the Trump administration, which negotiated the Doha Accords, and then under the Biden administration, which executed the Afghanistan withdrawal, that the Taliban would become our partner in counterterrorism.
