Abstract

The article presents the second part of the paper "Suburban Runaways of the 1960's" which discusses the method used by the Mental Health Study Center in conducting the study in Maryland. A special form of recording missing persons was designed to achieve an accurate count of reports of missing adults or children. A uniformed patrolman was also assigned to take information from complainants' own home to obtain specific and descriptive information useful in locating a missing person. A copy of the report is then filed with the Juvenile Bureau, who in turn forwarded a copy to the project office and sent an explanatory letter to the parents of a missing child. An intensive interview with the child and family was then conducted after the return of the child.
