Abstract

A recent study conducted by Gannan Medical College in China investigated the clinical effect of high-flow humidified oxygen therapy (HFNC) on patients after cardiac surgery. The study compared the outcomes of patients who received HFNC via nasal cavity with those who received oxygen inhalation by face mask. The results showed that HFNC was associated with higher arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2), lower sputum viscosity, reduced incidence of second intubation, and shorter intensive care unit (ICU) stay time compared to conventional mask oxygen inhalation. The study suggests that HFNC is a beneficial respiratory support strategy for patients after cardiac surgery and can contribute to their recovery. [Extracted from the article]
