Abstract

A recent study conducted at Edge University compared non-invasive impedance cardiography with invasive techniques for measuring cardiac output in patients with pulmonary hypertension. The researchers found that impedance cardiography showed moderate correlation with thermodilution and fair correlation with the eFick method for cardiac output measurements. Additionally, impedance cardiography was better than the eFick method in predicting 1-year adverse events, including mortality and hospitalization, in patients with pulmonary hypertension. However, thermodilution was found to be superior to both the eFick method and impedance cardiography. This study provides valuable insights into alternative methods of measuring cardiac output in patients with pulmonary hypertension. [Extracted from the article]
