Abstract

Product Life cycle Management (PLM) is an effective business strategy which is used to integrate data, processes, human resources and business systems by extending business across the product life cycle. In recent days, products get smarter where most of the products are embedded with electronics and its associated software. Products are made smarter by implementing the concepts of Internet of Things (IoT). Monitoring the product data from ideation to disposal stage is important for further analysis of a product. Data management of a product with dynamic and individual customer requirement information is the major challenge in a manufacturing industry. Implementation of PLM is one of the suggested method for recording the information about the product throughout its life cycle. In this present study, PLM implemented in an IoT enabled product with the use of Aras Innovator software to retrieve data of the product for further process. With predominant knowledge about the activities of the industry, a work environment can be incorporated within the PLM system. Implementation of PLM system in an enterprise for IoT products were resulted in improved control of the systems in a manufacturing industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
