Efficiency of the Barrier Phases in Coatings on Gas Turbine Blades.

Abstract—The efficiency of the barrier phases in the protective coatings created on the turbine blades of gas turbine engines is studied. The barriers are shown to be efficient for retarding the microcracks that appear in nickel aluminide—based coatings and for maintaining the stability of the structure and properties of coatings responsible for increasing the life of gas turbine blades.
