Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Baskent University in Adana, Turkey, explored the relationship between pretreatment masseter muscle volume (TMMV) and survival outcomes in patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC) who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). The study found that patients with a TMMV greater than 38.0 cc had significantly longer progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) times compared to those with a TMMV less than 38.0 cc. The results suggest that pretreatment TMMV could be a useful indicator for predicting survival outcomes in LA-NPC patients undergoing CCRT. [Extracted from the article]
