Abstract

Researchers at the Bandung Institute of Technology in Jawa Barat, Indonesia have conducted a study on incorporating virgin coconut oil (VCO) into polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) fiber matrix using the rotary force spinning (RFS) method. The study evaluated the physicochemical properties, antioxidant activity, and release behavior of the PVP/VCO fibers. The results showed that the fibers had smooth and defect-free surfaces, with diameters ranging from 1.28 to 2.17 μm. The incorporation of VCO into the fibers did not significantly alter its antioxidant activity. The study suggests that these fibers could be used in the development of novel oral delivery systems for VCO in food supplement and drug delivery applications. [Extracted from the article]
