Abstract

The Australian government has recently added the kowari to its list of threatened species, due to factors such as habitat destruction by farm animals and predation by non-native species like cats and foxes. Kowaris are marsupials, similar to kangaroos, and carry their babies in pouches. They have a lifespan of up to two years and primarily feed on small mammals, reptiles, and birds' eggs. Kowaris can be found in deserts and dry areas in Australia and have the interesting ability to obtain all the water they need from their food, eliminating the need to drink water directly.
