Abstract

This document provides a summary of research papers on the phenomenon of water hammer, which occurs when there are abrupt changes in flow within pressurized pipes. The papers explore various aspects of water hammer, including different flow conditions, pipe materials, and related phenomena. The authors present new advances in modeling and experimental verification of water hammer phenomena, such as analyzing the behavior of air valves and surge tanks, simulating the dynamic behavior of air cushion surge chambers, and modeling valve closure using computational fluid dynamics. The studies highlight the importance of considering factors such as viscoelastic behavior, friction losses, and valve operations in hydraulic transient simulations. [Extracted from the article]
