Abstract
- Ireland's justice minister, Helen McEntee, won a confidence vote in parliament after opposition party Sinn Fein accused her and the police of being unprepared for the riots in Dublin last month. McEntee received support from her own party, Fine Gael, as well as their coalition partners Fianna Fail and independent TDs. Sinn Fein's leader, Mary Lou McDonald, called for McEntee's resignation, but the motion was ultimately defeated. The riots, attributed to a far-right faction by Ireland's police commissioner, are expected to cost tens of millions of euros in damages. [Extracted from the article]
