The category of polyphony, related to musical polyphony, was adapted to the field of literary studies by Mikhail Bakhtin who, analyzing the works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, referred it to the genre of the novel. In this article, the author perceives polyphony broadly, and focus on the recognition and description of related textual strategies and their functions not only in literature at different levels of its artistic organization but also in conceptual translation that takes into account parody of style. The article shows the strategy of polyphonic transposition in the text „How would Bolesław Leśmian write a poem «Mary Had a Liitle Lamb» in English" written by Marian Polak Chlabicz.
