Abstract

PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases is an open-access journal that provides access to the latest information on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) for scientists, public health experts, and healthcare professionals. The journal has seen an increase in article submissions from both disease-endemic countries and countries in the North. Brazil has the second largest number of article submissions, and there is also representation from other countries in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia. The journal has a high impact factor and has received media coverage in scientific and lay publications, helping to raise awareness and advocate for NTDs. The journal's editorial board has expanded to include expertise on bacterial and viral NTDs, and Serap Aksoy has joined Peter Hotez as Editor-in-Chief. The journal looks forward to continued growth and engagement with the NTD community. [Extracted from the article]
