Abstract

The article discusses how virtual and augmented reality technologies are being used in military training. The Project OdySSEy platform, developed by BAE Systems, allows military personnel to train remotely from anywhere in the world. Trainees can connect to the virtual reality software and work together to complete realistic missions in virtual worlds. This technology provides a safe environment for soldiers to make mistakes and learn from them, improving their skills and preparedness for real-life missions. The article also mentions other modern military training techniques, such as smart computers, water-egress training, cyber warfare simulations, night-vision equipment training, and hypoxic training. The use of artificial intelligence in virtual training environments allows for realistic interactions and learning experiences. The VR technology also enables international military alliances to conduct joint training activities more easily. Overall, virtual reality technology is seen as a valuable tool for enhancing military training and improving the effectiveness of armed forces. [Extracted from the article]
