Abstract

A recent report from the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University in China provides insights into the immune cell profiles and B cell receptor (BCR) repertoires of patients with systematic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who also have Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. The study used single-cell RNA sequencing to analyze the heterogeneity of cell populations and identified differences between SLE patients with and without EBV infection. The findings suggest that CD8+ proliferation T cells and the interferon-alpha/beta pathways are upregulated in SLE patients with EBV infection. Additionally, the study highlights the potential role of CD4+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) in SLE combined with EBV infection. This research contributes to a better understanding of the immune response to EBV infection in SLE patients. [Extracted from the article]
