Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV) among women of childbearing age in Mashhad. The study found that 7.5% of participants tested positive for anti-HSV-2 IgG antibodies, while 83.3% tested positive for anti-VZV IgG antibodies. The researchers recommend considering a VZV vaccination program due to the high seroprevalence of VZV among nonvaccinated participants. They also emphasize the importance of not disregarding the reactivation of latent HSV-2 during pregnancy. [Extracted from the article]
