Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Palermo in Italy focused on the phenotypic characterization of an exceptional individual named A.T., who held the title of the oldest living Italian male centenarian from December 28, 2020, to September 23, 2021. The study aimed to provide insights into extreme phenotypes, particularly immune-inflammatory parameters, and their role in achieving extreme longevity. The results showed that A.T. had excellent health considering his age, with certain immune system indicators suggesting a biological age younger than his chronological age. The study supports the idea that the immune system may play a role in promoting extreme longevity, although other body systems or organs may also be involved. [Extracted from the article]
