Abstract

A clinical trial has been initiated to investigate the impact of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) on the occurrence of hypoxemia in high-risk patients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy with deep sedation. The trial aims to determine if nCPAP is more effective than nasal oxygen insufflation in reducing the occurrence of hypoxemia during the procedure. The trial will also evaluate secondary outcomes such as the duration of the intervention and the need for airway interventions. The study is being conducted at the Universitatsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany and is expected to be completed by June 2024. [Extracted from the article]
