Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Malabar Cancer Centre in Kerala, India, compared the complications associated with mini-plate and reconstruction plate fixation in patients undergoing fibula flap reconstruction for oral cancer. The study included 39 patients with a mean follow-up period of 31 months. The results showed that mini-plates were associated with fewer complications compared to reconstruction plates, particularly in patients who received adjuvant treatment. This research provides valuable insights for surgeons in selecting the appropriate fixation method for oral cancer patients undergoing mandibulectomy. [Extracted from the article]
