Abstract

A new report from the University Hospital of Quebec discusses the lack of strong evidence guiding surgical repair of primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). To address this, researchers are conducting a randomized controlled trial to compare surgical outcomes, visual outcomes, complications, and quality of life associated with different repair techniques and gas tamponades. The trial will recruit approximately 560 patients and follow them for one year postoperative. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the treatment of RRD and determine the effectiveness of supplemental scleral buckle and longer duration gas tamponade. [Extracted from the article]
