Abstract

A recent study conducted at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nurnberg (FAU) in Germany has explored the interaction between cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and host-cell proteins. The research focused on the role of protein kinases, specifically cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and the viral CDK ortholog (vCDK/pUL97), in viral replication and virus-host interaction. The study found that the activities of these kinases play a crucial role in the activation of host RNA polymerase in HCMV-infected cells. The research provides valuable insights into the mechanisms of HCMV infection and its impact on gene expression. [Extracted from the article]
