Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, compared the characteristics of pre- and postmenopausal women diagnosed with endometrial cancer. The study analyzed data from the International Endometrial Tumor Analysis (IETA) 4 cohort, which included 1,538 women with biopsy-confirmed endometrial cancer. The findings revealed that premenopausal women had lower parity, a higher family history of colon cancer, and smaller waist circumferences compared to postmenopausal women. Premenopausal women also exhibited certain sonographic features more frequently, such as a regular endometrial-myometrial border and a visible endometrial midline. However, despite experiencing a longer duration of abnormal uterine bleeding, premenopausal women more often had low-risk disease. The study highlights the importance of considering menopausal status when evaluating sonographic features in women with endometrial cancer. [Extracted from the article]
