Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Technical University of Liberec in the Czech Republic has explored the use of flexible aerogels in biomedical applications. Traditional non-flexible aerogels have limitations due to their fragility and moisture sensitivity, which restrict their potential uses. The study reviews the preparation techniques of flexible aerogels and their applications in tissue engineering, drug delivery systems, biomedical implants, disease diagnosis, and antibacterial materials. The research highlights the versatile properties of flexible aerogels, such as controlled porosity, large internal surfaces, and the ability to conform to 3D structures, which make them suitable for various medical applications.
