Abstract

A recent meta-analysis conducted by researchers at the University of South China compared the efficacy of two common drugs, febuxostat and benzbromarone, in the treatment of gout. The study analyzed 7 studies that met the inclusion criteria and found that febuxostat had a better uric acid-reducing effect and improved renal function-related indexes compared to benzbromarone. However, benzbromarone was found to have less hepatotoxicity. The researchers concluded that further research is needed to confirm the specific efficacy of these drugs. [Extracted from the article]
