Abstract

This article discusses the need for new molecules with better antibacterial properties due to increasing drug resistance. The authors propose a copper-mediated synthesis of benzothiazoles, which have shown effectiveness against bacterial diseases. They present an efficient method for the synthesis of these compounds using copper oxide. The article also discusses the synthesis and antibacterial activity of the compounds, as well as their ability to inhibit biofilm formation. Compound 5r showed significant inhibitory effects and biofilm inhibition percentages comparable to a traditional antibiotic. Further research is needed to validate its therapeutic use. The document provides information on the synthesis and characterization of various compounds derived from benzo[d]thiazole. The compounds were tested against different bacteria strains and showed promising antibacterial and antibiofilm activities. Computational studies were conducted to analyze the interactions between the compounds and specific proteins. The authors acknowledge the support of the National Facility Single Crystal Laboratory.
