Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares compared the response of two homemade pencil type ionization chambers with different sensitive volume lengths. The aim of the study was to assess the dosimetry in CT beams and ensure that patients do not receive unnecessary doses during diagnostic exams. The results obtained from the interlaboratory comparison showed that the ionization current obtained in tests at the Instituto de Pesquisas Energeticas e Nucleares was higher than at the National Physical Laboratory due to differences in beam characteristics. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to improve the quality control program for CT equipment. [Extracted from the article]
