Abstract
- Stanford University's women's basketball team recently made history when they beat Oregon State University, with head coach Tara VanDerveer securing her 1,203rd career win. This broke the record previously held by former Duke University coach Mike Krzyzewski for the most head coaching wins in college basketball history. VanDerveer, who has been coaching since 1978, has also led Stanford to three national championships. In another sporting achievement, the US women's field hockey team defeated Japan 2-1, securing their qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics after missing out on the 2020 Games. Additionally, 20-year-old Nick Dunlap, a golfer from the University of Alabama, became the first amateur golfer to win a PGA Tour event since 1991 when he won the American Express tournament by one stroke.
