Abstract

A clinical trial is set to investigate the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in pediatric patients with celiac disease (CD) and its association with a gluten-free diet (GFD). The study aims to determine the prevalence of NAFLD in pediatric CD patients and examine the role of intestinal permeability, intestinal mucosa damage, and proinflammatory status in the development of NAFLD in children with CD. The study will involve analyzing medical records, conducting assessments, and enrolling newly diagnosed CD patients. The primary completion date for data collection is December 31, 2024. The study is being conducted by the University of Palermo in Italy. [Extracted from the article]
