Abstract

This article discusses a case report of colchicine toxicity progressing from diarrhea to rhabdomyolysis, with a focus on the probable role of interaction with ciprofloxacin. Colchicine is commonly used for various conditions but can have side effects, including gastrointestinal issues and rare cases of myotoxicity. In this particular case, a patient with chronic kidney disease experienced rhabdomyolysis after taking ciprofloxacin alongside colchicine. The article highlights the importance of considering drug interactions and renal function when prescribing colchicine, and suggests using reduced doses for gout prophylaxis to minimize side effects.
