Abstract

The article discusses the importance of cell-mediated immunity in immunocompromised individuals after vaccination. It highlights the lack of reliable assays to measure specific cellular antiviral responses and the limited data available on this topic. The authors analyze data on T cell immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 in immunocompromised patients and emphasize the need for considering high-risk groups in clinical decisions and therapeutic strategies. The article also explores the role of T cell responses in cancer, HIV, solid organ transplantation, autoimmune diseases, and primary immunodeficiencies. It concludes that booster vaccinations may enhance SARS-CoV-2-specific immunity in immunocompromised patients, but further research is needed to understand the impact of T cell responses and develop standardized methods to measure protective levels of cellular immunity.
