Abstract
- Replacing one of the peripheral Se with a Se<subscript>2</subscript> bridge is an effective strategy to flatten the C<subscript>4v</subscript> CB<subscript>4</subscript>Se<subscript>4</subscript> cluster. The global minimum of CB4Se<subscript>5</subscript> contains one fan-shaped planar tetracoordinate carbon (ptC) CB<subscript>4</subscript> core, possessing double 2π + 6σ aromaticity. The peripheral Se<subscript>2</subscript> bridge is dexterous and crucial for the stability of CB<subscript>4</subscript>Se<subscript>5</subscript>. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
