Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between dyslexia and mental health problems. While some studies have shown that individuals with dyslexia experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, somatic complaints, and social withdrawal, others have reported no significant effects. The special issue includes seven articles from different countries, examining the association between dyslexia and anxiety and depression. The studies suggest a significant connection between dyslexia and social anxiety, and the impact of reading difficulties on depression may vary depending on cultural factors. The article emphasizes the need for more intervention studies and highlights the importance of fostering resilience and coping mechanisms for children with learning difficulties.
