Abstract

A recent study conducted by Shantou University College of Medicine in China explores the relationship between psychological stress and hair loss. The researchers found that stress-related corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is associated with hair loss, but the mechanism by which hair follicles respond to stress and CRH is not well understood. The study used mouse models to examine the role of CRH and stress-related hair regrowth and found that chronic stress and CRH blocked hair follicle regrowth. However, the researchers also discovered that enhancing autophagy, a cellular process, may have a therapeutic effect on stress-induced hair loss. This research provides valuable insights into the understanding and potential treatment of hair loss caused by stress. [Extracted from the article]
