Abstract

This paper is about the design and fabrication of a pick and place robot which can load and unload a workpiece from and to a shaping machine. In addition to this, the vice of the shaping machine will also be tightened and loosened after loading and unloading of the workpiece. The machine is therefore made into two units. The first unit consists of a motor driven by a chain and sprocket drive which will help in performing the tightening/ loosening of the vice after the placement/ before removal of the workpiece. The second unit consists of a robotic arm which can perform the loading and unloading operation. Thus, the coordinated working of the two units results in the process sequence of loading and unloading components getting automated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
