Abstract
- This document is an interview with Ashley Peterson, the first author of a paper titled "Neutrophil motility is regulated by both cell intrinsic and endothelial cell ARPC1B" published in the Journal of Cell Science. The paper discusses the role of the actin cytoskeleton in immune dysregulation and inflammation. The study used neutrophil cell lines and an endothelial-based blood-vessel-on-a-chip model to show that both neutrophils and endothelial cells contribute to excessive inflammation. The research also validated a disease model for ARPC1B deficiency. Peterson discusses the challenges faced during the project and expresses gratitude for her research mentor and colleagues. She also shares her motivation for pursuing a career in science and her interest in working in the pharmaceutical industry. [Extracted from the article]
