Abstract
- The specialised community of (Anglophone) mountaineers began producing their own systematic lexicographical output in the second half of the 19<superscript>th</superscript> century. Since then, digitalisation has led to more and more online resources of 'Mountaineering English' (MountE) being created. In this contribution, a major print dictionary by Samet (2011) is compared to four online resources of MountE in terms of their micro-structure and their macro-structure. The study shows that, with few exceptions, the online resources make little use of digital affordances; the print dictionary is the most comprehensive and the most complex in almost all aspects. However, there are important differences between all five resources as far as their micro- and macro-structures are concerned. Overall, the paper highlights that, while the lexicographical efforts of the community are laudable, more work needs to be done. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
