Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Copenhagen explores the relationship between disinhibited attachment behavior (DAB) in infants and maternal severe mental illness (SMI) and personality disorder (PD) symptoms. The study found that infants of mothers with clinical levels of PD symptoms were more likely to display DAB compared to infants of mothers without clinical levels of PD symptoms. However, maternal SMI was not significantly associated with infant DAB. These findings suggest that maternal personality symptoms may be a risk factor for indiscriminate forms of attachment behavior among home-reared infants. [Extracted from the article]
