Abstract
- A new study published in Cell suggests that a CRISPR RNA-editing platform called Multiplexed Effector Guide Arrays (MEGA) could enhance cell therapies for cancer. Researchers at Stanford University used MEGA to modify the RNA of cells, which improved immune cell metabolism and their ability to target tumors. Unlike previous gene-editing platforms, MEGA cuts RNA instead of DNA, allowing for reversible changes to gene expression in T cells. The researchers hope that this tool can eventually be used in clinical settings to improve cancer treatments. [Extracted from the article]
