Abstract
- This article explores Hu Shih's novel, The Suchness Island, and its impact on literary ethics. The author argues that Hu critiques superstitions and idolatry associated with tradition, emphasizing the importance of overcoming superstition for societal progress. The novel reflects Hu's atheistic beliefs and his desire to challenge superstition and bring about social change through science and reason.
