Abstract

A recent report from Baskent University in Konya, Turkey discusses the clinical outcomes of central line placement in pediatric patients and the risk factors for central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI). The study analyzed the outcomes and risk factors of pediatric patients aged 0-17 years who had central catheters placed between January 2005 and December 2020. The research found that the insertion site, technique, duration of catheter stay, and age of the patient were all risk factors for CLABSI. The study concluded that the length of catheter stay was the most important risk factor for CLABSI. [Extracted from the article]
