Abstract

The article explores the direct health effects of gas stove emissions. Topics discussed include association of childhood asthma cases in the U.S. to gas stove use, association of natural gas connections in residential and commercial construction to carbon emissions and climate change, pollutants produced by gas burners such as volatile organic compounds and liquefied petroleum gas or propane, and concentration of nitrogen dioxide in kitchens with overhead range hood versus sealed off kitchens.
