Abstract

The Gifu prefecture in Japan, located two hours west of Tokyo, offers a hidden gem for travelers seeking a unique experience. Gifu City is home to Gifu Castle, once inhabited by Emperor Oda Nobunaga, and offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside. The Nagara River showcases the ancient art of cormorant fishing, practiced by only six fishermen in Gifu City. Seki is known as the sword capital of Japan, where visitors can witness sword-forging demonstrations. Mino City offers a fairytale-like atmosphere with traditional kimonos and washi paper umbrellas. Yoro provides a traditional Japanese ryokan experience and the opportunity to explore the Yoro falls. Overall, the Gifu prefecture offers a rich cultural experience beyond the bustling city of Tokyo.
