Abstract
- The article discusses collector William Healey's gift of his Native American art collection to the Saint Louis Art Museum. Healey began collecting 20th-century Native American painting after being moved by an exhibition on the Indian boarding school system at the Heard Museum in Phoenix. The collection, consisting of 100 works of art, primarily paintings, will be exhibited at the museum and will also be featured in traveling shows. The museum director expressed gratitude for the gift, stating that it fills a critical gap in their collection and allows visitors to experience a fuller picture of art history. Healey's collection focuses on Native American artists and their perspectives, challenging colonial narratives and shedding light on their experiences. [Extracted from the article]
