Abstract

A recent report from Huangshan University in Anhui, China discusses the formulation and characterization of silymarin liposomes for enhanced antitumor activity. Liposomes, which are nanoscale carriers, play a crucial role in drug delivery and affect the effectiveness of drugs in the body. The researchers optimized the liposomes using the response surface method and achieved high entrapment efficiency. In vitro studies showed that the silymarin liposomes had stronger inhibitory effects on cancer cells compared to the model drug. The researchers concluded that this liposome system is suitable for intravenous delivery to enhance the antitumor effects of silymarin. [Extracted from the article]
