Abstract

Achilles tendon defect is caused by direct or indirect violence that makes it difficult for the tensile strength of the Achilles tendon to resist external forces. It is characterized by a lack of tissue integrity around the Achilles tendon, local bruising or bacterial infection, and ultimately leads to abnormal gait. This paper reviews the recent research progress of biodegradable polymeric materials in treating Achilles tendon defects at home and abroad, mainly introducing the therapeutic impact on the repair of Achilles tendon defects from materials alone, materials combined with drugs or cells.
