Abstract
- The House Ag Committee held a hearing titled "The Danger China Poses to American agriculture," where concerns were raised about China's influence in U.S. agriculture. While acknowledging China's importance as the largest export market for U.S. farmers, many expressed the need to diversify export bases. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem testified about China's attempts to take over the food supply chain, while Ranking member David Scott cautioned against allowing fear of the Chinese government to turn Americans against Chinese people. The hearing ended with little agreement on how to move forward, but there was consensus on the need for change. [Extracted from the article]
