Abstract

This article discusses the use of mobile applications in dermatology to bridge the gap between drug development and clinical practice. The authors conducted a review of 632 mobile health applications specific to dermatology and found that only 17 of them were provider-facing and included information about treatment options for dermatological conditions. These applications, such as VisualDx, iDoc Academy, Top Derm, and HumazeMD, offer features like evidence-based treatment options, virtual courses, interactive medical video games, and a platform for clinicians to organize and showcase patient procedures. However, the authors emphasize the need for a more comprehensive dermatological application that provides the latest drug development information, treatment guidelines, and educational tools for effective patient care and physician education.
