Abstract

This article presents a definition for Led Outdoor Activities (LOA) in Canada, which aims to highlight and elevate the adventurous and environmental outdoor sector in the country. The definition was developed through a collaborative process involving input from practitioners and academics nationwide. The final version of the definition seeks to clarify and enhance the field of outdoor education in Canada, while also promoting professionalism and understanding of LOA within the outdoor sector. It includes key concepts such as nature, adventure, sustainability, and self-propulsion. However, it is important to acknowledge that not everyone may fully embrace all aspects of this definition. The authors hope that this definition will be utilized by organizations, educators, and governments to inform program development and policy-making in the outdoor sector.
