Abstract

Researchers at Guangzhou University in the People's Republic of China have conducted a study on variable selection for misclassified current status data under the proportional hazards model. Misclassified current status data occurs when the failure time of interest is observed or known only to be either smaller or larger than an observation time, and the failure status is examined by a diagnostic test with testing error. The researchers propose a penalized maximum likelihood approach under the Cox proportional hazards model and the smoothly clipped absolute deviation penalty to address this problem. They conducted a simulation study and provided an illustration using real data on chlamydia to examine the empirical performance of their approach. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation. [Extracted from the article]
